Frutalmeidas

This place doesn't seem to have the sophistication touch that some places have with their comfy sofas and weird objects. Contrarily to the more modern spaces, Frutalmeidas, with more than 30 years, lives from the elders tradition, our parents came here for a little break, to sit down and eat something and maybe do some grocery shopping before heading home.

My father still remembers coming here, it is interesting when people open their eyes and say excited "Ooooh! That place!!". You feel you just brought up an old memory. I like it when people still conserve the taste of youth on their tongues and kind of return to it momentarily by remembering a flavour.

~

They had an enormous variety of juices and as the weather was heating up I had two of them (watermelon and plum) for 1.50€ each and a pastry for 1.20€. This is the Santini of juices I must say. My friend got an almond pie (1.75€). There wasn't much to chose from in terms of chewables. Maybe 17h was already too late.

Go Natural in Lx Factory

Lx Factory is filled with little places that look interesting, I keep thinking that I would really enjoy working in this place and take profit of the coworking environment. There is everything here so they end up financing each other.

Unfortunately, this is a common Go Natural. Pre-made meals that we can hit on a microwave or just take them plain cold. I am not picky: it is fast, accessible, a healthy "fast food" chain that grows proportionally to the"bio" trend. This is no rocket science. Anyway, its placement makes it more special then its siblings.

The nicest thing here is the upper floor that seems completely disconnected from the restaurant. It gives you privacy but it is quite empty so you may end up feeling that the space is too quiet. Anyway, for working concentration it's maybe a plus.

I no longer name meals by the way: there is hunger and the act of eating to satisfy the hunger.

Open from midday to 15h and from 20h to 00:30 everyday.

Belém Starbucks

Everyone knows this place. What secrets can I have to surprise you? Anyway, here is what I think of good ol' Starbucks:

- Prices are... Too damn high!
- They don't sell coffee but mousse, addicting mousse.
- The muffins have an acceptable price for the size (1.90€), and they definitely contain drugs inside.
- I tried the cinammon roll once (too much cartoon made me want to try this). I had never try it before but I can assure it is not one of the best ones.
- Bathroom code is #1234, in all the stores.
- It is a great space to sit and talk, but they only give us 45 minutes of internet in every food we order. And you need to remind them to give you the password (which is not as predictable as the WC password).
- On the other hand that keeps me away from facebook which is good.
- If you don't want to pay and just want to talk, you just have to chose a table and sit down. Just in case, grab a used cup from another table and put it in yours, so that they think you consumed them.
- The cozy sofas large enough for a big group are usually occupied by 2 people looking at each other looking bored. The secret is to sit close enough and just shotgun it when they leave. be careful not to mistake a simple sleepy stretching with the "leaving signs", that may end up badly.
- Favorite activity nº1: make up your own alter ego name for the coffee orders lady.
- Stealing a Starbucks mug in not that difficult if you have a small backpack or a Doraemon magic pocket.
- Some painting are interesting.
- The Starbucks of Belém closes too soon (00:00) a nice option is heading to the Casual Lounge nearby.
